I remember how much he meant to you and your family. You were very fortunate to have him in your life. ❤️

Your sports experience reminds me of a DO story. I know it wasn't you, it was another Daily Orange editor-on who received a late call with headline instructions at the plant, and very reasonably set exactly what she was told – but not knowing sports, ended up with a headline about "Yukon Huskies" rather than "UConn Huskies." The sports guys, as I recall, took great umbrage at the next day's markup, whereas it seemed to me that *they* should have been more clear. But I took from that a permanent questioning of assumptions.

😂😂😂 definitely not me. I remember my greatest mistakes, among them missing a major typo in a quarter page ad for swimsuits, so the ad was for swimshits. 😂😂😂

When I was a typesetter, I was just grateful that my boss was the one who made a really bad public/pubic typo, not me.

How achingly sad to lose both your mentor and his daughter to Covid. How wonderful that you had each other for as long as you did.

A beautiful tribute to a lovely man…and the fact that you are his daughter are so close now is so wonderful…he’d be so delighted! I had a really good relationship with my English teacher, Mr Parham…also an old guy, but I kept in touch with him all through uni and beyond. Like your mentor, he had real faith in my writing. Going to include him in my book dedication ♥️

Thanks for sharing that, Esther. It reminded me that I had two wonderful high school English teachers — but I didn’t keep in touch with either of them past high school, so they weren’t mentors the way Bill was. I wonder if it is possible to have multiple intense mentor relationships. I don’t think i would want that…

No, I think they come in single form…part of what makes the relationship so unique and special 🥰
